Content. The Academy is soliciting all avenues of research inquiry including abstracts of Research Reports, Case-Study Reports, Special Interest Reports and Theory Reports related to Orthopaedic Manual Therapy. The Academy is particularly interested in research evaluating intervention strategies including manipulative techniques using randomized-controlled clinical trials. Abstracts are intended to represent scientific research or non-commercial content related to clinical practice. Advertisements are not acceptable. All categories of abstracts require the following fields:
| Research Report | Case Study Report | Special Interest Report | Theory Report |
| Title | Title | Title | Title |
| Background & Purpose | Background & Purpose | Purpose | Theory/Body |
| Methods | Description | Description | |

Research Report: presentation of original scientific data collected by the author(s). Any established research format, both experimental and nonexperimental designs, may be used.
Case Study Report: presentation of case study (eg single-subject design, descriptive report) including manual therapy in their diagnosis/management, characterized by their scarcity.
Special Interest Report: presentation of unique and innovative concepts, ideas, devices, or products developed to meet the special needs of orthopaedic manual therapy can be reported as case reports and reports of projects. Emphasis should be on the unique and innovative nature of the concept or idea presented. All special interest reports must contain data either collected or developed by the author(s) that address the idea, concept, or product presented. Reports limited to a "proposed" idea will not be considered for presentation.
Theory Report: presentation of a theory, idea, concept, or model that describes a foundation for the practice of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy. Theory comprises interrelated principles and concepts that present a systematic, scientifically acceptable view of phenomena. Acceptable scientific theory is internally consistent, testable, and congruous with existing knowledge.
Publication. The accepted abstracts will be published in The Journal of Manual & Manipulative Therapy, which has readership in over 40 countries
Submission Format. The abstract must be submitted by email in MS Word format Font size 12 to the research committee chairman () The abstract should fit on one page with a one-inch margin all around and be no longer than 250 words in length. The slide session will be limited to 8 minutes followed by a 2-minute questions/discussion; this session will be primarily for research reports and randomized clinical trials. The poster session will include a viewing and question answer period and will be primarily for case report/series.
Presentation Awards. The platform and poster presentations deemed of the highest quality of those presented at the Annual Conference will be awarded the AAOMPT Excellence in Research Award (platform), and the AAOMPT Outstanding Case Report (poster).
